We recently wrapped up the renovation of the kitchen of a 1950’s three-bedroom, east Bloomington rambler. The homeowners asked us to update and remodel their kitchen with a relatively modest kitchen renovation budget. The existing space had birch plywood cabinets and original appliances. We began by replacing both. To achieve a streamlined aesthetic we worked to give the refrigerator a built-in look, installing an upper cabinet above the fridge. An added benefit? Additional storage space! For even more convenience we built a pantry cabinet with slide out shelves – all the easier to reach those hard to get to cabinet nooks. However, our greatest success was staying within budget. We were able to complete the entire renovation for less than $10,000.00 (excluding appliances)! All in all, the project took just over three weeks to complete and we were left with happy homeowners.
